What is your long term goal or career pathway?
My long term goal is to be able to work remotely and to have the flexibility to possibly work and travel, whilst consistently learning and growing. Another goal of mine is to represent Maori and Pasefika Women in the tech industry. However, in regards to a pathway, I have thought about possibly dabbling with design as well and either look into UX design or possibly even graphic design. I believe that one of these additional skills will add another cool skill to my belt.
A description of your strengths and limitations when it comes to learning
What skills (non-technical core/human skills) would you like to see developed in yourself while at Dev Academy?
Time Management. I get so caught up with so many ideas that sometimes I tend to get distracted and fixate on a certain task and complete that as best as I can but then I run out of time for the other tasks and then I end up popping in “overtime” to get things complete. So, Time Management with a dash of problem solving.
A commitment to how you will manage your workload in this programme. This should include:

A description of what you expect from the Facilitation team
I don’t have any specific expectations. I am going into this ready to learn and with an open-mind. The main thing would be support and transparency. I would like reassurance that I am on the correct path or not and If something is wrong for them to be straight up and advise the gap or the concern.
Any scheduling information such as block-out times when you are committed to other things. For example, you might have whānau commitments like school drop-offs. It's important to plan these in.
At the moment, no.
The same as above. I would like to see what kind of organization I would fit best into along the way. Whether that be a small business, not-for-profit, corporate company or as a freelancer/contractor
My strengths will be my ability to keep an open mind, celebrating the every win and being persistent whilst staying focused on the big goal.
My limitations it may be my ability to ask for help at times. It will definitely improve once I get comfortable with everyone.
Focus and asking for help. I have to feel safe enough to open up and be able to ask questions or actively participate in discussions within big groups. I am sure it won't take long.
Time Management just like my plan above. However, I think as my confidence and knowledge grow, i'll be more confident and will be able to complete things in a timely manner.
To be honest, I don't have special expectations. I am approaching bootcamp with an open mind. However, just as above, a team who are approachable, helpful and empathetic.
I will be treating course just like a job. I will be punctual and organized. I am 100% dedicated to my journey and have prioritized this. "Life" events have been penciled in for certain dates, if my workload allows. I am fortunate enough to have a great support system, they have already taken so many things on in order for me to give this my full attention and efforts.
